ABOUT US

PovoPay is a program which uses innovative resources, tools and solutions to solve some of the planet's biggest issues. We help underserved rural communities get access to better quality education and health care by enabling parents to pay for these services using crops and livestock. We are using solutions which are as old as the human race to solve social issues.

Barter is a system of exchange where goods or services are directly exchanged for other goods or services without using a medium of exchange, such as money. This method of exchange dates back to the period of silent trade which is as old as humanity itself. Its widespread use came to an end over 400 years ago.

 

Rural farmers in developing countries have access to crops or livestock. They however have limited access to cash or credit facilities. About 30% of the produce they grow go to waste due to poor storage, poor farm-to-market infrastructure/ services and lack of information. They essentially have crops and livestock but do not have money.

We decided to solve the problem of education and health care by introducing sustainable and inclusive solutions. Solutions which engage communities and restore dignity and pride to families. Parents can now afford to pay for tuition, books, uniforms, solar lamps, and other school materials. They can also pay basic health insurance and health bills.

We are creating a win-win solution for families as they can now afford these services. Education and healthcare institutions on their part can now afford to provide better quality services to the communities in which they serve. We actively get the community involved in the entire process from conception to education.

Our mission is to provide cheap, innovative and sustainable solutions to rural communities as they solve problems of access to quality education and health using community-based resources.

Our vision is a world where children in rural communities have access to good quality education, health care and other basic social services as they get a chance to lead happy and successful lives.
